Pray for:
Your Sphere of Influence

Mark 8:34 - “Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”

You have a sphere of influence. It’s yours, given to you by God. You have a group of people who will listen to what you have to say.

Paul had in his sphere of influence the church in Thessalonica. He took his responsibility seriously – constantly mentioning them in his prayers. Jesus had a small sphere of influence – twelve men. He was always praying for them.

Consider your sphere of influence – spouse, family, work, church, ministry, and community. Whatever size your sphere is, it is yours and you are called to be a faithful steward of this influence.

= the capacity to make an impact on culture.
= to win the heart and soul of another person or group of people, not through position, power or control, but through the strength of our own character and relationship.

It glorifies God when we steward this influence well, and when we desire more influence.

God has requested this of us as believers: to live godly lives and to extend our influence to others for His glory.

Matthew 5:16 - “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Our prayer today needs to be that through our actions, our friends and family will crave the hope that we have found. Pray that your life will make the lives of others better. Pray for those in your current sphere of influence. If you don’t pray for them, who will?

And then consider these questions:

What are the ways in which you want to influence others?
What people do you want to influence?
What places do you want to influence?
Target these areas in prayer during your fast.

We believe as you pray for these things — new strategies and initiatives are going to drop into your heart and mind. Ways of serving and leading the people in your sphere of influence. Ways to reach more people with the Gospel. For some — God is going to nudge you forward and push you out a little further during this fast — to see the need and to have the courage to lay down your life, again, to pursue what He shows you.

Thank God today for the honour of serving Him wherever He has placed you and whatever He is leading you into in the coming year. He has a purpose for you being right where you are and He has given you everything you need to serve Him.
